Korg X5D pci/f driver for vista

Postby korloin » Fri Aug 31, 2007 9:58 pm

Well, I guess this was inevetable but I am currently looking for a driver that will support the pci/f into the 9 pin serial port for a machine running Windows Vista.
I've been successful with every upgrade through XP sp2. Vista is killing me.

All the best and hoping to hear from someone much smarter than me.

Goodluck. I have an XP driver for the Serial Port PC/IF but Vista refuses to load it. That, and the fact that MS chose to remove the Midi Mapper device from Vista means the only solution is to do all my Music work on Windows XP SP3. So I have added a dual boot for XP SP3. I only EVER go into Vista to do Video work. Which I could do in XP but the vista DVD burner is good and easy to use. But that's a pretty poor reason to buy a whole OS..

Microsofts response was they dropped Midi Mapper as it was no longer required as new devices use USB.

That is actually a pretty old post you've answered.

Anyway, I don't recommend using the PCIF-Drivers at all. Take a simple USB-Midi-Interface and you certainly will have no problems at all. The serial port is out of date and there's no improvement in using it compared to a usual MIDI-Interface.
