sudden volume change on x5d

Postby ellison200 » Wed Jan 27, 2010 7:01 am

Hello everyone. The patch "Combi 28 Lead & Pad" is a split patch, with the lower half of the X5D keyboard being a strings sound and the upper half a lead sound. For some unknown reason, the volume level for the string side of the split keyboard has changed permanently to high level. The volume of the lead part in the upper half of the keyboard can still be raised or lowered with the expression pedal. I used to be able to control the volume for the whole patch with the expression pedal, but now only the lead part can be. Why would the lower strings half be stuck on high volume, and how can I change it back to the way it was? Thank you.

You can set midi filters for each part of the combi. I guess Volume-Controller is one of them. It's on one of those pages were all the Ds and Es are. D means controller receive is disabled, E means enabled.

Thanks Jay. Could you please be more precise? The X5D keyboard, as you know, is pretty much the same as the X5 sound module. I notice on Youtube that you play an X5D. I'd appreciate if you could explain more fully. I'm somewhat nervous about diving into the keyboard's setting and possibly changing them unwittingly. Thanks.

As long as you stay within the combination edit menu you can't do anything wrong - except you save your changes. If not, simply exit the edit mode and chose another patch number. At the moment I don't have the X5D with me to tell you which page numbers are essential. So you have to find it out yourself right now.
